Rae Bareli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in different states of the country, including Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), Rajkot (Gujarat), Mangalgiri (Andhra Pradesh), Bathinda (Punjab), and Kalyani (West Bengal). Virtually joining the inauguration ceremony of Rae Bareli, he said that he had promised AIIMS to Rae Bareli and today the guarantee was being fulfilled.
He also lashed out at Congress Party for doing dynastic politics. “They only did politics in Rae Bareli, while the work was done by Modi”, he stated.
The AIIMS facilities were inaugurated in Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), Rajkot (Gujarat), Mangalgiri (Andhra Pradesh), Bathinda (Punjab), and Kalyani (West Bengal). Addressing the event, he said, “I had laid the foundation stone for AIIMS in Rae Bareli five years ago, and today, it has been inaugurated. Your servant fulfilled the guarantee.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was present at the inaugural ceremony of AIIMS Rae Bareli, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has witnessed revolutionary changes in the last 10 years, adding that today, every citizen in the ‘new India’ is guaranteed security and excellent healthcare services.
CM Yogi emphasized that the new India has the capability to implement major development projects. Additionally, he highlighted the commitment of the double-engine government to provide employment to every youth and respect the aspirations of the common citizen.
He further stated that with the inauguration of AIIMS Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh has joined the league of leading states in the country having two AIIMS. “The first AIIMS was started in Gorakhpur, and today, Rae Bareli is witnessing its inauguration. Last year, 100 students took admission in MBBS course at AIIMS Rae Bareli”, he remarked.
“In 2017, when the double-engine government came to power in the state, healthcare services were a significant challenge. There was an outbreak of diseases like encephalitis, malaria, kala-azar, and dengue in the state. The health services were in a poor state. From 1947 to 2017, only 12 medical colleges were operational across the state. Today, there are 65 government and private medical colleges running in the state. Additionally, 15 medical colleges are under construction. Facilities like dialysis and telemedicine are now available in all 75 districts of the state,” Yogi added.

Union Minister Smriti Irani stated that Raebareli AIIMS is the most significant example of the difference between the ‘naamdaar’ (privileged) and the ‘kaamgaar’ (worker). She mentioned that from Independence until 2013, the country had 380 medical colleges, but today there are 706 medical colleges, which are operational in the country, with extensive work done in this regard between between 2014 and 2024, she pointed out.
She further said that what could not be achieved in thirty years in Amethi was accomplished by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in three months. She pointed out that within three months of the Lok Sabha election results in 2019, Amethi got a medical college. This became possible because of Chief Minister Yogi. Today, Amethi has a dialysis center, trauma center, and blood bank, and people do not have to go elsewhere.
