Patna: Kartikey Agassi of Bihar clinched a double crown in AITA Championship Series at Shree Ram Tennis Academy in Haryana. The tournament was organised at Shree Ram Tennis Academy, at Jind City, Haryana, for under -16 and under- 18 age groups. The tournament was held from September 5 to September 9.
Kartikey won the U-16 boys’ singles beating Parth Somani of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-2 and in doubles of Boys under-18, Kartikey and his partner Parth Somani of Maharashtra beat Tirth of Gujrat and Ved Thakur of Maharashtra 6-2,6-3.
Kartikey was quarter finalist in Boy’s under- 18 singles event where he lost to Jatin Nain of Haryana by 1-6, 6-3, 6-4
In his Boys under-16 singles event, Kartikey beat Lakshya Dahiya of Delhi in his pre-quarter match 6-2,6-2. And in the quarter final, he beat Aditya Singh of Delhi 6-0, 6-0 to move into the semifinal. In the semifinal he beat Jatin Nain of Haryana 6-4,4-6,6-1. In the final he beat Parth Somani of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-2.
In his Boys under-18 doubles event, Kartikey Agassi partnered with Parth Somani beat Harsh Agassi of Bihar and Rithik Roshan of Tamil Nadu in the quarter final by 6-2,6-3. In the semifinal, he beat Tushar Mittal of Delhi and Anuj Gupta of Delhi 6-4,7-6(7-1) to move to final where he played with Tirth of Gujrat and Ved Thakur of Maharashtra. He eventually won with a score of 6-2,6-3.
Kartikey is being coached by Team Aikat Tennis led by coach Kunal Aikat at Caper Tennis Academy, Patna.
