Patna emerge champs at Daksh Championships; Begusarai runners-up

Patna: Patna district was declared the winners of Bihar State-Level School Sports Daksh Championships while Begusarai district was adjudged the runners-up. Siwan district took the top third position.

The Dkash Championships was oraginsed throughout the year in different sports at state-level by the art, culture, youth department of Bihar government and Bihar State Sports Authority. The prize-distribution function of the Daksh Championships was held on Sunday at Patliputra Sports Complex.

The Dkash Championships was organised in order to promote sports development in the state and identify and provide opportunities to the talent.

Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to about 2400 players of different games.  In the state level-school sports ‘Daksh’ (2021-22) award ceremony, 2400 players were rewarded with certificates. T-shirts were also provided by the Bihar State Sports Authority to the players and team at the award function. In this historic initiative organized by the Bihar State Sports Authority under the Government of Bihar, the trophies were given to the top 10 districts which excelled in the total number of games held so far. Patna, Begusarai, Siwan, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Jamui, Nalanda, Buxar, Muzaffarpur, Gaya were included in the top winning districts in the Daksha Championship’s.

The function was inaugurated by Bihar Art Culture and Youth Department Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai, who was the chief guest at the function Director general of Bihar State Sports Authority Raveendran Sankaran welcomed the chief guest.

Addressing the function, sports minister Jitendra Kumar Rai said that through the Bihar State Sports Authority, opportunities are also being provided at the school -level by the department to nurture sports talent across the state, so that in the coming times, our children could win medals at the national level as well as at the international level..

Pankaj Kumar Raj, I.P.S. director cum secretary, Bihar State Sports Authority addressed the players and teams from different districts of the state and encouraged them. Vinod Singh Gunjhial, I.P.S. Sports Director, Bihar State Sports Authority addressed the dignitaries and players present in the function and greeted them. Later Pankaj Kumar Raj proposed a vote of thanks.
