Patna Crowned Pataliputra Zone Champions with Third Straight Win Over Arwal

June 5, Sonepur: Riding on stellar performances by Anmol Kumar (108* off 121 balls, 12 fours, 1 six) and Neeraj Kumar (62 off 58 balls, 7 fours), Patna clinched their third consecutive victory in the Pataliputra Zone of the Shyamal Sinha Inter District Under-16 Cricket Tournament, securing the zone championship.

In the decisive match at the local railway stadium, Patna triumphed over Arwal by 25 runs. Piyush Kumar Vishal was the standout for Arwal, scoring 65 runs in a valiant effort.

Patna’s bowlers contributed significantly to the win, with Divyanshu taking 3 wickets, while Priyanshu Kumar Pratik and Piyush Kumar claimed 2 wickets each.

Winning the toss, Patna chose to bat first. Anmol Kumar and Rohit started the innings, adding 37 runs before Rohit was run out while attempting a single. Ayan Ritesh Sinha then joined Anmol, forming a solid partnership that took Patna forward. Ayan was eventually dismissed by Mohammad Kaif, caught by Utsav Kumar for 24 runs (34 balls, 2 fours, 1 six). Shortly after, Piyush Kumar was dismissed for 7, also by Mohammad Kaif. Neeraj Kumar then partnered with Anmol, helping Patna reach 242/4 in the allotted 40 overs.

Anmol’s unbeaten 108 and Neeraj’s 62 were crucial, supported by 25 extras. Mohammad Kaif took 2 wickets and Lavekesh claimed 1 for Arwal.

In reply, Arwal’s openers Yash Raj and Utsav Kumar provided a solid start with a 66-run partnership. Priyanshu Kumar Pratik broke this stand by bowling out Utsav for 33 (38 balls, 3 fours, 1 six). Arwal’s innings then faltered with regular wickets falling. Lower-order batsman Piyush Kumar Vishal fought hard with 65 runs (37 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes) but couldn’t steer his team to victory as Arwal was all out for 217 in 39.3 overs.

For Patna, Divyanshu took 3 wickets, Piyush Kumar and Priyanshu Kumar Pratik took 2 each, and Kartik Pandey and Rohit Pandey claimed 1 wicket each.
