Patna: Patna beat Muzaffarpur by four runs in a thrilling semifinal match of the BCA Men’s U23 One Day Trophy 2024-25 to enter the final at Janki Stadium in Sitamarhi on Monday.
Patna won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Patna scored 137 runs in 42.5 overs. Although the score was low, Utkarsh Dheeraj Kumar (27 runs) in the middle order and Akshat Mishra (28 runs) in the lower order played useful innings and took the team to a respectable position. Animesh Anuj Kumar contributed 19 and captain Akash Raj Raj contributed 12 runs. Apart from these, other players gave their small contributions and took the score to 137.
For Muzaffarpur Shubham Jitendra Mall took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 10 overs with 1 maiden. Vasudev Prasad Singh and Guddu Dilip Kumar took two wickets each and captain Ravi Sukhdev Kumar and Rahul Kaushal Kishore took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, Muzaffarpur had a shaky start against the bowling of Patna pace bowler Akshat Mishra. Muzaffarpur scored 133 runs all out in 42.1 overs. Bharat Basant Kumar top scored with 37 runs and Ankit Kumar Singh scored 31 runs, but other batsmen lost their wickets at regular intervals. Captain Ravi Sukhdev Kumar scored 15 runs and Rahul Kaushal Kishore scored 10 runs, but the team fell four runs short of the target.
