Patna: The coaching camp for probables of the Bihar Kho-Kho team, which will participate in the Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Bihar from May 4 to May 15, will be organised in Munger from April 12.
Giving this information, Neeraj Kumar Pappu, General Secretary of the Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, said that the camp was initially scheduled to be held in Gaya. However, on the request of the association, the Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Shankaran, has ordered it to be organised in Munger.
He said that 25 players each in the boys’ and girls’ categories have been selected for the camp based on selection trials recently conducted in Patna. The camp will continue till May 3. The final team will be announced based on performances in the coaching camp.
Pappu said that according to a letter issued by the Bihar State Sports Authority, Vinay Kumar Jaiswal will be the coach for the boys’ category, while Swapna Pandey will coach the girls’ category. Both are NIS-certified kho-kho coaches. Apart from the camp, they will also accompany the teams during the Khelo India Youth Games matches. Aman Kumar will will be the local supporting staff for the boys’ team, and Harimohan for the girls’ team.
It is worth noting that the kho-kho event of the Khelo India Youth Games will be held in Gaya.
