Patna: Suraj Singh (East Champaran) defeated Rambabu (West Champaran) in men’s section of the Jaynarayan Singh Memorial 2nd Bihar State Senior and Junior Grappling Wrestling Championship being held at Ekta Marriage Hall ( Banjariya), Motihari. The championship is being oragnised by East Champaran District Grappling Wrestling Committee under the aegis of Grappling Wrestling Committee of Bihar.
In women’s category, Soni Kumari (East Champaran) defeated Isha Kumari (Eklavya Academy). Saurabh Kumar (Patna) defeated Mantu Kumar (Sheohar) in junior boys’ category and Tamanna Kumari (East Champaran) defeated Goldie Kumari (West Champaran) in girls’ category to enter the next round.
Earlier, this two-day state championship was jointly inaugurated by Kishlay Kishor, President of Grappling Wrestling Committee of Bihar and deputy Superintendent of Police Motihari Arun Kumar Gupta by lighting the lamp.
Superintendent of Remand Home (Motihari) Sudarshan Kumar, SHO of Banjariya Police Station Sandeep Kumar, General Secretary of State Grappling Wrestling Committee, Gauri Shankar were present on the occasion.
Addressing the sportspersons and sports enthusiasts, Kishlay Kishor said that the game of grappling is fast becoming popular in the state. There is a lot of enthusiasm especially among the players of rural areas. Announcing that the Bihar team participating in the national championship to be held in Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) will be given a dress on his behalf, he said that the grappling wrestling game will be brought in the category of the best sports in the state. Umesh Singh presided over the function. The guests were welcomed by District President Vinod Jaiswal, Secretary Keshav Krishna and Convenor Ramesh Kumar alias Bholaji.
