Begusarai: Md Alam of Samastipur created a stir in Begusarai. Md Alam scored a brilliant century (174 runs) and helped his team post 68-run victory over Khagaria in the first match of Central Zone of Randhir Verma Under-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament.
In this match played at the local Barauni Fertilizer ground, Khagaria won the toss and invited Samastipur to bat.
Batting first, Samastipur scored 336 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Mohammad Alam played a brilliant century of 174 runs and Abu Talib scored 56 runs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 31 runs.
From Khagaria, Aditya Kishan took 4 wickets and Suraj Kumar took 1 wicket.
In reply, Khagaria’s team scored 268 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. For Khagaria, Suraj scored 56 runs and captain Anshu scored 50 not out. For Samastipur, Ayush Kumar took 2 wickets and Abhinav took 1 wicket.
The Man of the Match award was given to Mohammad Alam of Samastipur.
The umpires were Ved Prakash and Amit Kumar and the scorers were Vishwajeet and Ram.
