Patna: Lalmati Devi School and Lakshya CC entered the semi-finals of the Kusumraj Maniam Gold Cup Under-17 Inter School Cricket Tournament by winning their respective matches at Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Wednesday.
Lalmati Devi School won the first match of this tournament by defeating Basawan Park Cricket Academy by 28 runs. The tournament is being organised by Dr Rajdev Shamra Memorial Trust. Man of the match was awarded to Shivam (37 not out and 2 wickets) of Lalmati Devi School by Naveen Kumar.
In the second match, Lakshya CC defeated Learning School of Cricket by 38 runs thanks to the lethal bowling of Anirudh (7 for 23). Senior cricketer Saurabh Chakraborty gave away the man of the match award to Anirudh of the winning team.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by the chairman of the trust, Amrendra Kumar Amresh, Academic Director of Kusumraj Maniam Public School, Dayanand Sharma, Admin Arun Kumar Singh by releasing 101 balloons in the air. Naveen Kumar welcomed the guests. Organising secretary Santosh Tiwari proposed a vote of thanks. The umpires of today’s match were Baijnath Prasad and Rajesh Ranjan and the scorer was Rajkumar.
