Kartik annexes a grand double at Bihar State Junior Ranking Badminton

Bhagalpur:  Kartik of Patna won a grand double in claiming the boys U-17 and U-19 singles title of Li-Ning Bihar State Junior (U-17/19, B/G) Ranking Badminton Tournament at Indoor Hall in Bhagalpur on Wednesday.

Kartik first won the boys U-17 title defeating Ranveer Singh of Patna 21-14, 21-10. Later in the evening he also clinched the boys U-19 title defeating Raj Aryan of Nawada in a three set thriller 19-21, 21-4, 21-12.

In the girls section Srija of Patna won the girls U-17 singles crown beating Vaibhavi Singh of Katihar 21-12, 21-15

Vaibhavi Singh, however, won the girls U-19 title defeating Sanvie Anand of Bhagalpur 21-18, 17-12, 30-29. This match was an edge of the seat thriller as both the girls displayed their best in this marathon match.

In the boys U-17 doubles, Aditya Kumar Choudhary and Rishav Raj (both from Samastipur) won the title defeating Akshar and Saksham Vtsa (both from Patna) 19-21, 21-16, 21-17.

In the boys U-19 doubles final, Amrit Raj and Raj Aryan (Muzaffarpur and Nawada) beat Aditya Kumar Choudhary and Roshav Raj 21-19, 21-18

Later, chief guest, former Minister, President of Bihar Badminton Association, Vice President of Badminton Association of India Abdul Bari Siddiqui gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up. On the occasion Secretary of Bihar Badminton Association KN Jaiswal ,Chairman of Bihar Labour Commission Chakrapani Himanshu, former MLA Phanindra Chaudhary, Sunil Kumar Singh , RJD District President Chandrashekhar Yadav,  Secretary of Rotary Club Bhagalpur Dr. Shankar, HF Khan Satyajit Sahay,  Jai Narayan Kumar, Capt. Rajesh Nandan, Neeraj Kumar and many others dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Cash prize of Rs 6000 was given to the winners and Rs 4000 to runner-up.
