Patna: The final match of the Casa Picolla School Cricket League Season-5, being organised under the aegis of Turning Point, will be played between GNIOT Blaster and JIS Jaabanj.
In the Super Six round, GNIOT Blaster and JIS Jaabanj topped their respective groups. GNIOT Blaster won both of its matches, while JIS Jaabanj won one and lost one. Although VGU Thunderbolt and Manav Rachna Lions also won one match and lost one, JIS Jaabanj advanced to the final on the basis of a superior run rate.
In the match played on Tuesday, GNIOT Blaster defeated Oxford Super Kings by 15 runs, while VGU Thunderbolt beat JIS Jaabanj by 39 runs. However, this victory went in vain for VGU Thunderbolt, as JIS Jaabanj entered the final from Group B due to a better net run rate.
In the first match, Oxford Super Kings won the toss and invited GNIOT Blaster to bat. GNIOT Blaster scored 162 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Ayushman Jain scored 54 runs. In reply, Oxford Super Kings managed 147 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, losing the match by 15 runs. Avinash Kumar scored 56 runs. Saubhagya Mishra (29 runs and 2 wickets) of the winning team was awarded the Satyamev Group Player of the Match award by State Tax Deputy Commissioner Shashi Shekhar and Sardar Patel Sports Foundation founder Santosh Tiwari.
In the second match, VGU Thunderbolt won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted 194 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant innings of 91 runs by Sanku Sharma. In reply, JIS Jaabanj were all out for 155 runs in 17.4 overs. The Satyamev Group Player of the Match award was presented to Sanku Sharma by State Tax Deputy Commissioner Shashi Shekhar and Sardar Patel Sports Foundation founder Santosh Tiwari.
