Biharsharif: Gaya defeated Sheikhpura by six wickets in the second match of Magadh Zone of Randhir Verma Under-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament. In this match, Gaya bowlers bowled excellently and Ranjan Yadav scored a half-century (54 runs). This was Gaya’s first win in two matches. Gaya team had lost to Nalanda in the inaugural match. This was Sheikhpura’s first match in which they lost.
In this match played at Nalanda Cricket Ground in Bihar Sharif, Gaya won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sheikhpura, batting first, scored 175 runs after losing all the wickets in 44 overs with the help of Sushant Sinha’s 46 runs. Pankaj Kumar scored 22 runs, Sanjeev Kumar scored 26 runs and Givind Gupta scored 20 runs. Suraj Vijay scored 19 runs while 24 runs were scored with the help of extras.
For Gaya, Rishi Raj, Mayank Pandey, Abhishek and Prince Kumar Arya took two wickets each.
In reply, Gaya won the match by scoring 177 runs for 4 wickets in 31.3 overs with the help of Ranjan Yadav’s inning of 54 runs. For Gaya, Praveen Rai scored 28 runs, Rahul Bharti scored 30 not out and Ujjwal Yadav scored 29 not out.
For Sheikhpura, Ayush Ranjan took 3 wickets for 30 runs and Suraj Vijay took 1 wicket for 35 runs.
