Patna: Hosts Gardanibagh Athletic Club (GAC) clinched the Rekha Devi Memorial Women’s Football Tournament title defeating Star Warriors Ranchi 2-0 at Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Monday.
Bimla fo GAC scored the two important goals in the 25th and 31st minutes of the match. Bimla was adjudged the player of the match.
Bihar Art Culture and Youth Department Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai, Industry Minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth and Bihar Football Association Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain gave away the trophies and prizes to winners and runners-up teams.
Former Indian women’s football team captain Madhu Kumari, former international women’s footballers Ansha, Shyama Rai, Khushbu, Amrita, Annu and manager of the runners up team of junior national girls’ football championship Asghar Hussain were felicitated on the occasion at the prize-distribution function. Raj Milk’s Vidya Bhushan Singh, coach Nand Kishore Prasad, footballer Kalika Singh, Arjun Singh, referee YN Pandit, Sharmanand Rai, Vijay Kumar Sinha were also honoured for their contribution to football.
Shyam Babu Rai, president of Gardnibagh Athletic Club, welcomed the ministers by presenting them mementos and shawls. Organising secretary Avinash Kumar Mantu proposed a vote of thanks. Patna Football Association’s secretary Manoj Kumar played a key role in the successful conduct of the entire event.
Many dignitaries including Patna Football Association (PFA) Treasurer Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Manohar Rai, Sunil Kumar, Gopinath Dutta, Ramesh Kumar Sharma were present on the occasion.
