Patna: Four players shared the lead with four points each after the end of the fourth round of the Bihar State Senior Chess Championship being held at Dalsinghsarai, Samastipur’s Bhavya Resort on Monday.
The tournament is being hosted by Samastipur District Chess Association under the aegis of All Bihar Chess Association.
In the fourth round, Vipal Subhashi of Patna on the top board defeated Dev Raj of Patna in the English opening. On the second board, Vijay Kumar of Postal Department defeated Prabhat of Kishanganj playing with black pieces.
Meanwhile, the state’s women sensation Maryam Fathima forced state player Rupesh B Ramachandran to give up the game in a marathon game of 57 moves. On the fourth board, Mrityunjay of Bhagalpur defeated Nilesh of Patna with black pieces in a game of Queen’s Indian to retain the top position.
