Patna: A five-day seminar for softball coaches and umpires began at Patliputra Sports Complex here on Saturday. The seminar is being organised by Softball Association of Bihar. The seminar was inaugurated by the Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran, by lighting the lamp.
In his inaugural address, Sankaran said that coaches play an important role in taking any sport forward. Trainers also need training from time to time so that their knowledge is enhanced. The association’s patron, Jagannath Singh, honoured the chief guest, Shankaran, by presenting a memento and a plant.
On this occasion, the chairperson of the association, Meenu Singh, chief patron Ajay Narayan Sharma, patron Jagannath Singh, vice president SN Raju, Sanjay Kumar, Putul Verma, treasurer Pawan Kumar Pappu, chief umpire of the Softball Association of India, Laxman Singh Gahlot, chief coach Prasanna Kumar, NIS athletics coach Abhishek Kumar, sports officer IIT Patna, Dr Karunesh Kumar, sports physio Manish Kumar, secretary of the Rugby Association of Bihar Pankaj Kumar Jyoti, secretary Bihar Wrestling Association Vinay Kumar, and secretary Soft Tennis Association of Bihar, Dharamveer Kumar, were present.
Apart from this, coaches Ravi Rai, Vipin Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Rajesh Kumar Chintu, Ali Gauhar, and Anuj Raj were also present.
Joint secretary Rupak Kumar moderated the stage and welcomed all the guests, while former secretary Madhu Sharma proposed a vote pf thanks.
