Easwaran slams unbeaten double century to put Bengal in command against Bihar

Patna: Bengal captain Abhimanyu Easwaran hit an unbeaten double century to put Bengal in strong position against Bihar on the second day of their four-day Ranji Trophy match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

Bengal declared their first innings at 411 runs for five and took a lead of 316 runs. Bihar scored 95 runs in their first innings. At the end of the day’s play Bihar were 32 for the loss of one wicket. Bihar team’s opener Piyush Kumar Singh has returned to the pavilion without opening his account.

Resuming the day at 111 for two wickets, Bengal declared the innings at 411 for five wickets thanks to Abhimanyu Easwaran’s unbeaten 200 runs and a half-century by Abhishek Porel (56 runs).

For Bengal, Sakir Habib Gandhi was out after scoring 19 runs, Karan Lal scored 28 runs, Anustup Majumdar scored 39 runs, Manoj Tiwari scored 30 runs, while Shahbaz remained unbeaten after scoring 29 runs.

For Bihar, Ashutosh Aman took 2 wickets, Ravi Shankar and Veer Pratap took one wicket each. At the end of the day’s play, Bihar’s Rishav was unbeaten on 12 runs and Mangal Mahrour was unbeaten on 19 runs.
