Patna, May 18: The two-day Inter-School Chess Competition was inaugurated on May 17, 2024, at Delhi Public School Patna East. Students from over seven schools in Patna, including Saint Karen’s High School, Trinity Global School, Millennium World School, G.D. Goenka, DPS Patna East, Litera Valley School, Radiant International School, and others, participated in the event.

The championship spanned two days, May 17 and 18. The tournament was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Rakesh Alfred, Deputy Head Ashfaq Iqbal, and Coordinator Dr. Sangeeta Rajhans, who lit the ceremonial lamp. The inauguration also featured a variety of colorful programs, including a welcome song and dance performances.

Principal Dr. Alfred addressed the jury and provided a detailed presentation on the rules and regulations of the competition. Following his address, the chess championship commenced with his approval. Students were divided into three categories, with different groups formed from the participating schools. The performance of Vedant, Kaushiki, Anushka, and Ayushi from Delhi Public School Patna East was particularly noteworthy. Many students from other schools also excelled, bringing pride to their institutions.

On the second day, Dr. Alfred again initiated the competition by emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and encouraging students to form friendships with their peers. He inspired enthusiasm and zeal among the 113 participating students and highlighted the significance of organizing and executing such events. While announcing the results, he declared all participants as winners to honor their efforts and participation.

Prizes were awarded to the main winners in various categories. The winners included Shanvi Raj of Litera Valley (Under 9 Girls), Divya Rani of Trinity Global School (Under 11 Girls), Divyanshi of Trinity Global School (Under 11 Girls), Aradhya of Trinity Global School (Under 11 Boys), Advik and his team from G.D. Goenka Public School (Under 14 Boys), Harsh Raj of Radiant School (Under 14 Boys), Gaurav of Litera Valley (Under 14 Boys), Achintya Kashyap of Litera Valley (Under 14 Boys), Medant of Delhi Public School Patna East (Under 9 Boys), and Ananya Pandey (Under 14 Girls).

Litera Valley emerged as the overall winner in the girls’ category, while Trinity Global School triumphed in the boys’ category. Litera Valley also secured the runners-up position in the boys’ category.
