Patna: Saloni Kumari of Bihar advanced into the women’s singles final of All India East Zone Inter-State badminton Championship in Kolkata on Saturday.
In the semifinals, Saloni defeated Manisha Rani Tirkey of Jharkhand 21-14, 21-16. With this semifinal victory, Saloni is just one step away from creating history for Bihar.
In the final, Saloni Kumar will take on Amolika Singh of Uttar Pradesh.
In the boys doubles, Bihar pair of Raj Aryan and Amrit Raj also moved into the final. In the semifinal, Raj Aryan and Amrit Raj beat Odisha pair of Amaya Nayak and Tahisf Khan 21-19, 8-21 and 21-11.
In he boys doubles final, Raj Aryan and Amrit Raj will meet Ansh Vishal Gupta and Ujjwal of Uttar Pradesh.
This is for the first time Bihar have reached the final of the two events.
Earlier, on Friday, Bihar junior boys team claimed the bronze medal. Bihar team consisted of Raj Aryan, Amrit Raj, Kartik Kumar and Saksham Vats.
