Bihar’s Anika Raj bags 5th spot in National U-7 Chess

Patna: Ankita Raj of Bihar bagged the fifth position with 8 points after the end of the eleventh and final round on the final day of the 35th National Under-07 Chess Championship being held in Ahmedabad.

Ankita, who was leading the table jointly since the beginning of the tournament, defeated P Srihita of Telangana with white pieces in the final round today to finish fifth.

This information was given by Himanshu Kumar, the manager of the Bihar team and the joint secretary of the All Bihar Chess Association, over the phone from Ahmedabad.

He further informed that Sarvanika of Tamil Nadu was declared the winner with 11 points while Divi Bijesh of Kerala was declared runner-up with 9 points. Tvesha Ashish Jain of Maharashtra and Kiana Parihar of Rajasthan got the third and fourth positions respectively.

At the same time, Siddharth Shandilya and Akarsh Anand, participating in the boys category, scored five points each at the end of 11th round.
