Patna: Javelin thrower Anjani Kumari of Jamui, Bihar, will attend the National Training Camp in Patiala to represent the country in the World Athletics Championship, Asian Athletics Championship, and Asian Games. Apart from Anjani Kumari, 14 more athletes from the country have been selected for other disciplines.
Giving this information, the director general of the Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran, said that Anjani Kumari is a talented athlete, and Bihar has high hopes for her in the future. Anjani Kumari has brought laurels to Bihar by winning the gold medal in the senior category in the recently held Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru. The Bihar State Sports Authority and the State Government have continuously trained and encouraged her, and the results are now apparent. This will boost the morale of other players in Bihar as well, he said.
Sankaran said that Anjani Kumari, along with 14 other players from the country, will be given world-class training by the government for the World and Asian Athletics Championships and Asian Games in the national training camp to be held in Patiala from April 1 to July 31, 2023.
Expressing their happiness over Anjani Kumari making Bihar proud, the Bihar minister of art, culture, and youth department, Jitendra Kumar Rai, secretary of the department, Bandana Preyashi, director general of the Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran, and director Pankaj Raj congratulated Anjani Kumari and wished her a bright future.
