Patna, May 6: The Bihar Handball Association convened its general body meeting in Patna on Sunday, marking the first such gathering in four years. The meeting saw the participation of the entire executive body, including representatives from 25 district units across Bihar. Bihar Olympic Association observer Ramashish Singh and advocate Sharda Kumar were present as returning officers.
Chaired by Bihar Handball Association President Pankaj Kumar and Operating General Secretary Brajkishore Sharma, the meeting began with unanimous approval of the minutes from the previous session and the financial report. Discussions ensued regarding the lack of support from the Bihar State Sports Authority for the development of handball in the state. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the department’s indifference toward establishing new Eklavya Centers and mini sports centers under the Khelo India initiative.
During the meeting, a new 22-member executive committee of the Bihar Handball Association was unanimously elected with the consent of the Bihar Olympic Association and the returning officer. The elected members include MLC Engineer Sachchidanand Rai (Chairman), Pankaj Kumar (President), Brajkishore Sharma (General Secretary), Tripurari Prasad (Treasurer), and several vice presidents, joint secretaries, and working committee members from various districts.
In addition to representatives from the Bihar Olympic Association, district secretaries, presidents, and national players and coaches present at the meeting extended their congratulations to the newly elected members of the Bihar Handball Association’s working committee. Brajkishore Sharma, General Secretary of the Bihar Handball Association, announced plans to release a calendar for handball activities, encompassing training and competitions, in the near future.
