Patna: Bihar vs Odisha Cooch Behar Trophy match being played at the Moinul Haq Stadium looked evenly poised at the end of third day’s play. At the end of the day’s play, Bihar needing 277 runs to win were 39 for the loss of one wicket.
Keeping in view the wear and tear of the Moinul Haq Stadiun track, Bihar needs 238 more runs to win the match with nine wickets in hand. Earlier, starting the day with 185 for 9, Bihar lost overnight batsman Harshit who just added one run to his overnight score of 74 before being adjudged lbw off the bowling of Asutosh Marndi, the Odisha speedster finished the day with six wickets giving away 47 runs in 145 overs. Bihar innings folded for 191 runs. Md Izhar remained unbeaten on 15 runs.
In their second innings, Odisha batters too had tough time to play the bowling of spinner Anup Kumar and medium pacer Aditya. Ashirwad Swain, Captain Saideep Mohapatra and Shreyansh Bhardwaj negotiated Bihar bowling well. Odisha made 202 runs off 66.2 overs in their second innings. Ashirwad Swain made 41, Saideep Mohapatra made 72 while Shreyansh Bhardwaj scored 33 runs. Aditya Raj took 4 for 72 while Anup Kumar, who took five wickets in the first innings, took 6 for 62 in the second innings.
Bihar scored 39 for the loss of one wicket in their second innings till the end of the third day’s play. Kumar Shrey’s poor form continued in the second innings as well and was dismissed for just 5 runs. Ram Suresh Suri (17) and Virat Pandey (15) were at the crease. Aditya K Jaising of Odisha took 1 wicket for 7 runs.
