Patna: Kartik Kumar of Patna will take on his city mate Gopal Kumar in the boys U-19 singles final of Li Ning Bihar State Junior (U-19) and Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament being played at Indoor Hall in Munger on Friday.
In the semi-finals played on Thursday, Kartik beat Munger lad Parag Singh in a three-set thriller 21-15, 17-21, 21-17 while in the second semifinal Gopal Kumar of Patna beat Garv Sharda of Purnia in a marathon three-set thriller 13-21, 21-19, 24-22. The match lasted for one hour and 23 minutes.
In the men’s singles semi-finals, Tabrez of Patna beat Yash Bhardhan of Muzaffarpur 21-15, 21-14 to set up final clash with Ritesh Kumar of Bhagalpur who beat Sameer Raj of Purina 21-16, 21-14.
In the women’s singles semi-finals, Saloni Kumar of Purnia beat Simran Singh of Patna 21-11, 21-06. In the final, Saloni will lock horns with Ranya Rana of Gaya who beat Srija of Patna 21-12, 13-21, 21-19 in the second semi-final.
The final will be played on Friday, Bihar art, culture and youth department minister Jitendra Rai will be the chief guest at prize-distribution function.
