Bhagalpur: Taking into consideration the essentiality of the inclusion of fast developing branches of agriculture science in curriculum, new additions have been made in degree and postgraduate level courses of study of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour.
The academic council of university that met this week following threadbare discussion on emerging branches of agriculture science made recommendations for new additions in courses of study.
As per academic council recommendations, the study of natural farming would be included as a full-fledged course at graduation level. Further academic council recommended introduction of value-added courses in curriculum of different semesters at graduation level.
In this context the academic council laid stress on beginning value added course related to the use of artificial intelligence in agriculture. The academic council recommendations for postgraduate programme included beginning ethnobotany and sustainable agriculture -02 credit course.
The meeting also decided to include the study of agricultural chemicals and nematology in master degree programme. Beginning postgraduate level teaching of some courses at Dr Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, Mandan Bharati Agricultural College, Saharsa and Veer Kunwar Singh College of Agriculture, Dumraon was among other important recommendations made by academic council.
The meeting further recommended admission against five percent seats at graduation level through NRI quota. Dr D R Singh, VC, BAU who chaired academic council meeting directed establishing technology park at university headquarters and at colleges under the university beside art gallery in university.
The academic council also approved the proposal of presenting best teacher award, best thesis award and student gold medal award during convocation. The participants at the meeting of academic council included deans and directors beside registrar of university. Dr N P Singh, member, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices virtually participated in the meeting.
