Patna, June 16: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has issued notices to 11 candidates suspected of involvement in the alleged paper leak of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) (UG) 2024.

The EOU, investigating the allegations, has summoned the candidates and their parents to its office on Tuesday, June 18. The notices were served after the candidates’ names and roll codes were discovered in possession of a solver gang during the investigation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET, provided details of the candidates in response to a request from the EOU.

Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, EOU Deputy Inspector General (DIG), stated that the NTA sent the admit cards of nine candidates, revealing their mobile numbers and addresses. “Notices have been sent to these addresses, summoning the candidates for questioning,” he said.

The candidates and their parents will be questioned about their connections with the solver gangs and whether they received the question paper before the examination.

NEET (UG) 2024 took place on May 5, after which an FIR was registered at the Shastri Nagar police station in Patna regarding the alleged leak of question papers. The police have so far arrested 13 individuals, including four candidates, their parents, and members of the solver gangs. The EOU, which has already interrogated them, plans to take the accused on remand again in light of new revelations.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear a related case on July 8, where the EOU will submit its progress report. The Supreme Court had previously issued a notice to the Bihar government seeking updates on the progress of the NEET question paper leak investigation.
