30 to 40 Bihar junior athletes likely to be selected for SAI centres

Patna: It is expected that 30-40 boys and girls of Bihar will be scouted by the talent scouting committee from this National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM), according to director general of Sports Development Authority of Bihar (SDAB) Raveendran Sankaran.

He said that the selected boys and girls will be trained by national coaches at various SAI centres and Special Training Centres (STC) across the country.

“It is also expected that Patliputra sports complex. Patna will be one of STC to train athletes scouted from Assam, WB, Bihar and Jharkhand (East Zone). Chief national coach Radhakrishnan and few more national coaches are expected to reach Patna soon to initiate the process,” he said.

He said three Bihar junior athletes Nishi, Soni and Vijender Yadav were selected for National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) Patiala for further training.
