Bhagalpur: In the final match of Bhagalpur District Cricket League played on Sunday at the local Sandys Compound Stadium under the aegis of Bhagalpur District Cricket Association, Youth Corner Cricket Club defeated Bhagalpur Cricket Club by 32 runs and captured the title.
District Magistrate Bhagalpur Dr Nawal Kishore Chaudhary gave away the winners trophy to captain Bihar Ranji player Basukinath. Special guest Assistant Director Minority Welfare Manish Kumar awarded the prize to the runner-up team.
Youth Corner Cricket Club won the toss of the match and decided to bat first. Youth Corner team scored 206 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs. For Youth Corner, Aman Singh scored 57 runs, Basukinath scored 37 runs, Mohd Sadiq Siddiqui scored 33 runs.
For Bhagalpur Cricket Club, Roshan, Sachin and Amit took two wickets each. Justin took a wicket.
Chasing the target of 207 runs, Bhagalpur Cricket Club were all out for 174 runs in 29.5 overs. Justin scored unbeaten 59 runs, Sachin scored 21 runs. The rest of the batsmen of the team could not do anything special.
For Youth Corner, Vivek Anand took 3 wickets, Satyajeet took two wickets, Sanjay Kumar, Aman Singh, Md Siddiqui took one wicket each.
Anil Kumar Gupta and Shiv Narayan Singh of BCA panel, were the umpires in the match. Aman Singh of Youth Corner was named as the man of the match of the final match.
Umpire awarded Man of the Series to Sachin Bhardwaj of Bhagalpur Cricket Club, Best Batsman to Deepak Kumar of Youth Corner, Best Bowler to Tushar Kumar of Randhir Verma Cricket Club, Best Catch Award to Aman Singh, Vishal Kumar of Naugachia Cricket Club was declared junior cricketer. The commentators were Mohd Sadiq Hussain and Sanjeev Chaudhary.
The chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony, Bhagalpur District Magistrate Dr. Nawal Kishore Chaudhary boosted the morale of the players who performed excellently in the tournament. He said that the sports and players of the district will be given all facilities. The district administration will work to ensure that the field is ready for every game and players do not face any problems in practicing.
