Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government, headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will ensure 100 percent operation of Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses during the Holi festival.

UPSRTC MD Masoom Ali Sarwar has instructed all the regional/assistant regional managers to ensure 100 percent operation of buses as well as comprehensive passenger facilities at the bus stands in view of the Holi festival.

The decision has been taken in view of the heavy influx of passengers during the Holi festivities.

Masoom Ali further mentioned that in view of the large number of people moving to various destinations before and after the date of the main festival on March 24 and 25, 2024, 100 percent on-roading of buses will be done and operated with the aim of providing adequate transportation facilities to the passengers.

Each region will ensure 100 percent operation by strengthening the physical condition of all the buses and getting them on-road while engaging competent drivers.

Operation of additional buses will also be ensured in a planned manner depending on the availability and requirement of passengers. Wide publicity will be ensured by putting up banners at bus terminals.

The MD said that the online booking/reservation system should be ensured by scheduling the operation of AC buses. Along with making additional seating arrangements for passengers, instructions have been given to ensure proper lighting at the bus stands, cleanliness of it’s premises as well as provision of pure drinking water and toilets.

During the operation of buses, it will be ensured that no unwanted, prohibited, or flammable explosive materials are carried.

Instructions issued for intensive checking of unauthorized vehicles

Uttar Pradesh Transport Commissioner Chandrabhushan Singh has instructed all divisional/assistant divisional transport officers to carry out intensive checking of unauthorized vehicles in view of the Holi festival.

He said that Holi is to be celebrated on March 24 and 25, 2024. Often, on important occasions, the income of the corporation is adversely affected by unauthorized vehicles coming to the state or going from the state to other states or operating in large numbers from different places in the state, while on the other hand, the government is troubled by widespread tax evasion.

Along with loss of revenue, there is no effective control on passenger safety standards.

The MD has given instructions to run an effective joint checking campaign to prevent unauthorized vehicles in all the districts from March 21 to April 01, 2024 in the public interest to prevent unauthorized operation.
