Yogi govt pays special attention to the education of youth of UP in Budget 2024-2025

Lucknow: The Yogi government has made significant provisions in its 20204-2025 Budget to strengthen the education system of Uttar Pradesh. In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, budgetary allocations have been made for providing quality basic education and admitting new students in schools.

Additionally, attention has been given to establishing new universities and government polytechnics under higher and technical education and providing facility of ICT labs in secondary education.

The Yogi government, under basic education, has allocated a budget of Rs 650 crores for providing free sweaters and shoes for over 2 crore students from classes 1 to 8 in the academic year 2024-25. Additionally, a provision of 350 crores has been made for school bags.

Under basic education, a direct transfer of Rs 1200 per child is being made to the parents’ accounts via DBT, discontinuing the procurement process for uniforms, sweaters, school bags, shoes, and stationery. Furthermore, the aim is to admit more than 2 lakh children from economically and socially vulnerable groups in the financial year 2024-25, for which a budget of Rs 255 crores has been allocated.

As part of Operation Kayakalp, a budget of Rs 1000 crores has been set aside for the financial year 2024-25. In addition, a digital library is being established at Gram Panchayat and Ward level with Rs 300 crore in 2023-2024, for which an additional budgetary provision of Rs 498 crore has been made for fiscal year 2024-2025.

Furthermore, in Vantangiya villages, 144 positions have been created for the operation of 36 primary schools. An allocation of Rs 168 crore has been made for distributing free uniforms to approximately 30 lakh students above the poverty line.

Secondary schools will be equipped with basic facilities

Under secondary education, a provision of Rs 516.64 crore is proposed under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana to equip all the government secondary schools of the state with basic facilities and to make arrangements for smart classes and ICT labs in every government secondary school by 2024-2025.

Additionally, a budget of Rs 200 crores is proposed for the infrastructure facilities in aided non-government secondary schools. Moreover, a provision of Rs 5 crores is proposed for the establishment of new Government Sanskrit Schools. For the construction of hostels and mini-stadiums in Government Sanskrit Schools (Rajkiya Sanskrit Vidyalayas), a budget of Rs 10.46 crores is allocated. Furthermore, a provision of Rs 4 crores is made for the operation of the Sainik School in Gorakhpur.

Government Polytechnic will operate on PPP mode

The establishment of each state university, including Maa Vindhyavasini State University in the Vindhyaachal Dham division, one state university in the Muradabad region, and Maa Pateshwari State University in the Devi Patan division, is proposed with a provision of Rs 51.20 crores for each university. To encourage education, a budget of Rs 100 crores has been allocated under the Mukhyamantri Shikshuta Protsahan Yojana.

In addition, for the expansion of basic facilities in the state universities and the completion of new government colleges and buildings under construction, a provision of Rs 30 crores is proposed.

Furthermore, a budget of Rs 55 crores is allocated for the establishment of new government colleges as well as the completion of buildings under construction in government colleges.

On the other hand, in the field of technical education, training is being provided in 169 diploma-level institutions in the state. The process of construction/setup is underway for 75 government polytechnics, which will soon be operational under the PPP mode. Currently, training is being provided to students in 1874 private diploma-level institutions.

As part of the Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy- 2020, AKTU has established an Innovation Hub under the Center of Advanced Studies at the university campus. Within this framework, 15 incubation centres have been set up. In addition to this, 265 startups have come on board.
