Yogi govt continues its crackdown on drug dealers

Under the guidance of CM Yogi, a 10-day campaign saw prompt action against 11 illegal drug gangs

28 people were arrested and illegal drugs worth Rs 6.52 crore were seized

Lucknow: In recent years, the Yogi government’s proactive measures against illegal drug dealers have significantly disrupted their operations. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s direct oversight has resulted in the seizure of over 241,000 kilograms of illegal drugs in various districts of the state from 2020 to October 2023. The estimated international market value of these seized drugs exceeds Rs 1,400 crore.

Responding to CM Yogi’s directives, a new campaign has been launched, resulting in swift action against drug dealers. In a 10-day operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) targeted and dismantled 11 drug gangs.

28 illegal drug dealers arrested through campaign

ANTF DIG Abdul Hameed said that CM Yogi had given instructions to run a campaign against illegal drug dealers. As part of this effort, the ANTF team conducted raids, and registered case against 11 illegal drug gangs and arrested 28 people. Seized items include 220.170 kg of ganja, 05.200 kg of opium, 4.266 kg of charas, 1.920 kg of morphine, 1.410 kg of heroin/smack, and 15,000 bottles of codeine syrup, collectively valued at Rs 6 crore 52 lakh in the international market.
