Vijay Hazare Trophy: Gani’s century goes in vain, Bihar lose by seven wickets

Patna: Despite Sakibul Gani’s brilliant century, Bihar had to face defeat by seven wickets at the hands of Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the match held at Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘A’ Ahmedabad, after winning the toss, Karnataka invited Bihar to bat. Bihar team scored 217 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Sakibul Gani contributed an unbeaten 113 runs. Karnataka team won the match by scoring 218 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 33.4 overs. Bihar’s next match is against Uttarakhand on December 1.

Apart from Sakibul Ghani, captain Ashutosh Aman, batting for Bihar, scored an unbeaten 33 runs, while Shraman Nigrodh was out after scoring 21 runs, Alok Kumar 7 sored runs, Babul Kumar made 17 runs, Bipin Saurabh scored 8 runs. Raghavendra Pratap, Veer Pratap and Sachin Kumar Singh were out without opening their accounts. For Karnataka, Susith took 3 wickets and Kaverappa, Vyashak and Samarth took one wicket each.

In reply, the Karnataka team scored 218 runs for 3 wickets in 33.4 overs with the help of Padikal 93 runs and Manish Pandey 17 runs (both unbeaten) and won the match by seven wickets. Karnataka’s Samarth was out after scoring 4 runs, captain Mayank Agarwal after scoring 28 runs and Nickin Jose after scoring 69 runs. For Bihar, Ashutosh Aman, Raghavendra Pratap and Veer Pratap got one wicket each.
