Team Ganga prove too good for Team Kaveri

Patna, May 1: The Straight Drive Women’s Cricket Tournament began at the Cricket Academy of Bihar (CAB) ground here on Wednesday. In the inaugural match, Team Ganga defeated Team Kaveri by five wickets. Pragati Singh, who played an unbeaten inning of 59 runs with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes in 31 balls, was given the Player of the Match award.

Team Kaveri won the toss and decided to bat first. With the help of Ananya Tiwari’s 47 runs, Team Kaveri scored 118 runs for 8 wickets in 22 overs. Ananya Tiwari played an inning of 47 runs in 33 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from this, for Team Kaveri, Shruti Gupta scored 9 runs, Rupa scored 19 runs, Neha scored 3 runs, Varsha scored 6 runs, Sneha scored 7 runs, Sagarika scored 2 runs, Sakshi scored 6 runs and Julie scored unbeaten 5 runs.

For Team Ganga, Arpana took 2 wickets for 20 runs, Pooja took 2 wickets for 39 runs, Simran took 2 wickets for 20 runs. Two players were run out.

In reply, Team Ganga had a very poor start as they lost 5 wickets for 30 runs in 5.3 overs. After this, Pragati and Sakshi together guided the team to victory in the 14th over. Pragati Singh scored unbeaten 59 runs in 31 balls with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes, Sakshi scored unbeaten 12 runs in 18 balls with the help of 2 fours. Apart from this, Komal played 15 runs, Sana played 2 runs and Simran played 6 runs.

Pragati Singh was given the Player of the Match award by Prem Ballabh Sahay. The umpires of this match were Rajesh Kumar and Neeraj Kumar.
