Madhubani: Tabrez of Patna beat Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur 21-14, 21-16 in 35 minutes while Sameer Raj of Purnima beat Santu Kumar of Munger in 56 minutes 21. -19, 11-21, 21-13 to reach the final of the men’s singles of the Bihar State Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament being organised by Madhubani District Badminton Association under the aegis of Bihar Badminton Association.
In the women’s singles, Purnima’s Saloni Kumari defeated Patna’s Simran Singh 21-13, 21-12 in 33 minutes while Buxar’s Akanksha Pandey defeated Bhagalpur’s Saanvi Anand 21-19, 21 in 37 minutes to set up summit showdown.
In the men’s doubles, Rohit Kumar and Ankit Kumar of Buxar defeated Tushar Kumar Setu and Satyam Kumar of Vaishali 21-15, 21-17 in 27 minutes while in another match, the pair of Ambuj Prakash of Jehanabad and Siddharth Bhushan of Vaishali defeated Satyam Kumar Prakash and Yash Vardhan of Muzaffarpur 21-16, 21-18 in straight sets to reach the final.
In the women’s doubles match, Saloni Kumari of Purnia and Simran Singh of Patna defeated Parthi Arya of Samastipur and Riya Kumari of Madhubani 21-6, 21-7 in 20 minutes while Annu Prakash of Nalanda and Zainab Nazir of Patna defeated Archana Kumari and Vinduvshini Sharma of Muzaffarpur 20-22, 21-18, 21-18 in 67 minutes to enter the final.
Earlier, in the men’s singles quarterfinal match, top seed Patna’s Tabrez defeated Payod Pushkar of Munger 21-12, 21-09 in a 34-minute to enter the semi-finals. Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur defeated Manish Kumar of Vaishali 16-21, 21-9, 21-12 in a 60-minute match to enter the semi-finals while Sameer Raj of Purnia defeated Yash Vardhan of Muzaffarpur 14-21, 21-14, 21-16 in 55 minutes in another quarterfinal match. Santu Kumar of Munger defeated Harshmani Singh of Darbhanga 21-10, 21-13 in 28 minutesto enter the semi-finals.
In the women’s singles quarterfinal matches, Saloni Kumari of Purnia defeated Swayam Prabha of Patna 21-06, 21-3. Simran Singh of Patna defeated Vibha Kumari of Patna 21-19, 21-19, Bhagalpur’s Saanvi Anand beat Sahin Akhtar of Saharsa 21-14, 21- and Buxar’s Saloni Akansha Pandey beat Patna’s Sulekha Kumari 21-06, 21-12 to reach the semi-finals.
In the men’s doubles quarter-final matches, the pair of Ankit Kumar and Rohit Kumar of Buxar defeated the pair of Harshmani Singh and Majeed Nabi of Darbhanga 21-15, 21-16. Vaishali’s Satyamprakash and Tushar Kumar Setu defeated Nawada’s Mayank Raj and Raj Aryan 21-17, 21-12. Vaishali’s Siddharth Bhushan and Jehanabad’s Ambuj Prakash defeated Munger’s Santu Kumar and Raj Aryan 21-18, 21-15. Satyam Kumar and Yash Vardhan of Muzaffarpur beat Purnea’s pair of Ramvilash Kumar and Shanif Raja 21-12, 21-12 .
In the women’s doubles quarterfinal matches, Samastipur’s Anshika and Madhubani’s Riya Kumari defeated Madhubani’s Kalyani Kumari and Begusarai’s Vaishnavi Bhushan by 09-21, 21-19, 21-19. Archana Kumari and Vinduvashni Sharma of Muzaffarpur defeated Kavya Kumari of Jehanabad and Richa Kumari of Patna 21-14, 21-04 while Annu Prakash of Nalanda and Zainab Nazir of Patna defeated Arfa Fatima of Supaul and Sidra Fathima 21-05, 21-04.
