Patna: Star Warriors, Ranchi defeated Town Club, Mairwa, Siwan 1-0 in the inaugural match of Rekha Devi Memorial State Level Women’s Football Tournament at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday.
Binny of Star Warriors Ranchi scored the lone goal of the match in the 43rd minute of the game. Binny was declared player of the match. Siwan’s Heena was shown a yellow card in the 55th minute of the game.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Bihar Football Association Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain, powerlifter Kirti Raj, who won six gold medals in Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship recently, former international cricket umpire LP Verma, Patna Football Association Secretary Manoj Kumar, PFA Treasurer Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Bihar referee Board’s head Satyendra Kumar, former player Chandeshwar Prasad Chandu by releasing balloons in the air. They also got introduced to the players. Shyam Babu Rai, President of Girdanibagh Athletic Club, welcomed the guests.
On this occasion Manohar Rai, Vice President of Gardanibagh Athletic Club, Ashutosh Sinha, Treasurer, Coach Nand Kishore Prasad and many dignitaries were present.
Organising Secretary Avinash Kumar Mantu said that Gardanibagh Athletic Club (GAC) will face Siliguri team in the second match on Sunday.
