Shyamal Sinha U-16 Cricket: Siwan, Samastipur emerge zone champs; Aurangabad win

Patna: Aurangabad beat Buxar by 77 runs in the Shyamal Sinha U-16 Inter-District Cricket tournament (Shahabad Zone) at the Jagjivan Stadium on Thursday.

Aurangabad won the toss and electing to bat first, scored 233 runs losing seven wickets in 40 overs. For Aurangabad, Naveen Kumar contributed 57 runs, Anubhav Kumar made 50 runs, Vishal scored 37 runs and Vikas scored 35 runs. For Buxar, Akshay got 3 wickets, Sachin got 2 wickets and Prem Kumar and Piyush got one wicket each.

Chasing the 233 runs to win, Buxar were 156 for 9 wickets in 40 overs and lost the match by 77 runs. Ravi scored 46 runs, Nikhil scored 28 runs and Aman Faridi scored 25 runs for Buxar. For Aurangabad, Sourav Kumar got 3 wickets, Vishal and Maneesh Verma got two wickets each. Vishal of Aurangabad was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant performance (37 not out and 2 wickets) in the match.

At Begusarai Refinery Ground, Samastipur became the champion of Central Zone by defeating Begusarai by eight wickets. Electing to bat first, Begusarai scored 78 runs. Harsh Kumar top scored with 28 runs. For Samastipur, Manish and Aditya took three wickets each and Vaibhav claimed 2 wickets.

Chasing the target, Samastipur achieved the target losing two wickets. Captain Vaibhav scored  an unbeaten 41 runs. Prithviraj took two wickets.

The match between Siwan and Gopalganj of Western Zone, organized by Siwan District Cricket Association at Rajendra Stadium, Siwan became the champion of Western Zone despite a draw due to rain.

Batting first after winning the toss, Gopalganj were all out for 123 runs in 32 overs off 40 overs. Rinkle Tiwari scored 38 runs, Sonu Gupta scored 27 runs. Yash and Riju took two wickets each for Siwan. Siwan were at 57 for 2 in 13 overs when the play was postponed due to rain. Both the teams got one point each.
