Sharat Jain Memorial Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship Begins in Ara

Patna: The Sharat Jain Memorial Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship, organised by the Bhojpur District Chess Association under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association (ABCA), commenced today at Maina Sundar Dharamshala, Ara. A total of 130 players are participating in the boys’ category and 36 in the girls’ category. Notably, 22 rated players are competing in the boys’ division, while the girls’ category features 8 rated players.

After two rounds of play, 28 boys and 8 girls are jointly leading with two points each.

The championship was inaugurated this morning by Ara Mayor, Indu Devi, who made the ceremonial first move. Special guests present at the occasion included Shailendra Kumar Jain, President of Maina Sundar Dharamshala, Dharamshala in-charge Deepak Prakash Jain, Dhirendra Chandra Jain, Abhishek Jain, and Patron Shubhraj Soumya.

The event was opened with a welcome speech by Nishi Jain. Stage management was overseen by Secretary Dr. Md Saif, with Dr. K N Sinha presiding over the event, and Dr. S K Rungta delivering the vote of thanks. International Arbiter Nand Kishore is serving as Chief Arbiter, assisted by co-arbiters Shahid Hussain, Iqbal Alam, Ranjan Kumar Sinha, Birendra Kumar Upadhyay, and Nidhi Kumari.
