Prayagraj: In preparation for Mahakumbh 2025, the grandest gathering of the Sanatan tradition in Prayagraj, the Kumbh area is abuzz with the increasing presence of saints. The process of settling the Akhadas, a centrepiece of public faith and devotion, has officially commenced.

Acting on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive, the Kumbh Mela administration has initiated land allocation for setting up Akhada camps, with the full consent of the saints.

This marks the first step towards CM Yogi’s vision of hosting a magnificent Mahakumbh. Land allocation for Sanyasi and Udasin Akhadas began today, overseen by the Kumbh Mela administration.

Additional Kumbh Mela Officer Vivek Chaturvedi confirmed that land was allotted to 10 Akhadas on the first day, ensuring a harmonious process.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri expressed satisfaction, stating that after the initial land allocation, rituals such as Bhoomi Pujan will pave the way for completing other preparations with administrative support.

With unanimous consent for land allocation, the Kumbh Mela administration, accompanied by saints from various Akhadas, visited the Akhada Sector within the Kumbh Mela area. Here, the designated land for each Akhada’s camp was demarcated by the administration. The Akhadas marked their territories on the levelled ground, completing the traditional rituals.

Akhara Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri said, “With the land demarcation complete, the Akharas will now conduct all their activities and traditions from their designated plots.”

Mahant Jamuna Puri, Secretary of Shri Panchayati Akhada Maha Nirvani, expressed satisfaction, noting that the land allocation followed the established traditions of the Kumbh, and the settlement process will now proceed as planned.

The Mela administration had scheduled land allocation for November 18 and 19. A coordination meeting was held on Monday at the headquarters of Shri Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin Nirvana, finalizing the land allotment.

After the meeting, Mahant Ravindra Puri emphasized unity among the 13 Akhadas, stating, “This is our fair, and our Chief Minister is Yogi Ji. Wherever land is allocated, we will gladly accept it.” He also confirmed that the administration had addressed all concerns, including requests for increased land and facilities.

On the first day, land was successfully allocated to 10 Akhadas, with the remaining three Vaishnav Akharas set to receive their plots on November 19.
