Bhagalpur: The final matches of the Hundred Bihar State Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament concluded today at the Indoor Badminton Hall in Bhagalpur. Over the course of an exhilarating three-day tournament, Saksham Vats of Patna emerged victorious in the boys’ singles category, defeating Kartik, also from Patna, with scores of 25-23 and 21-13. In the girls’ singles, Vaibhavi Singh of Katihar claimed the title by overcoming Saumya Bharti, also from Katihar, with a decisive score of 21-15, 21-8.
In the boys’ doubles, the duo of Parag Singh from Munger and Ranveer Singh from Patna triumphed over the pair of Rishav Raj from Samastipur and Saksham Vats from Patna, securing the title with scores of 22-20 and 21-14. Ranveer Singh of Patna also secured third place in the boys’ singles, while Srija of Patna took third place in the girls’ singles.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests from Bhagalpur district. Notable attendees included KN Jaiswal, Secretary of the Bihar Badminton Association; Jayanarayan Kumar, District Sports Officer; Dr Tapan Kumar Ghosh, President of the Bhagalpur District Badminton Association; Dr Rajiv Kant Mishra, Vice President; HFA Khan; Satyajit Sahay, Secretary (Event) of the Bihar Badminton Association; Captain Rajesh Nandan, Executive Member of the Bihar Badminton Association and Treasurer of the Bhagalpur District Badminton Association; and Gautam Kumar, also known as Bunty, a social worker and sports enthusiast.
The tournament was officiated by Mithilesh Kumar of Bhagalpur as the chief referee. The refereeing team included Pranay Prasun (Bhagalpur), Krishna Kumar (Katihar), Aditya Sinha (Gaya), Ankit Raj (Patna), Deepak Jha (Katihar), and Mohammad Ejaz Ahmed (Purnia). Their efforts ensured the smooth and fair conduct of the matches throughout the event.
