Patna: An unbroken 286-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Sakibul Gani and Bipin Saurabh enabled Bihar post 392/4 in their first innings at the end of the first day’s play of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group final against Manipur at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Wednesday.
At the end of the day’s play, Sakibul was unbeaten on 191, which came off 217 balls with 27 boundaries and two sixes, while Bipin Saurabh was unbeaten on 117, which came off 179 balls with 12 boundaries and five huge sixes.
Earlier, Bihar won the toss and elected to bat first, Bihar had a dismal start, losing three wickets for only 55 runs. A 51-run partnership between Sachin Kumar Singh and Sakibul Gani for the fourth wicket took Bihar’s total to 106 runs before Sachin was caught by Rahman off Ronald’s delivery, scoring 45 runs.
After the departure of Sachin, Bipin Saurabh joined Sakibul Gani. Both of them played aggressive innings and sent Manipur bowlers on leather hunt. In the process, Sakibul completed his century, and later in the day, Bipin Saurabh also scored a ton.
Earlier, Bihar art, culture and youth affairs minister Jitendra Kumar Rai inaugurated the plate group final match. He was also introduced to the players. Office-bearers of Bihar Cricket Association and BCCI senior selection committee member Shiv Sunder Das were present on the occasion.
