Patna: RU Arun of Tamil Nadu won the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Trophy, Category B FIDE Rating Chess Tournament in Raipur. Arun won the title with eight points out of nine while Maharashtra’s Shrayan Mazumdar finished second with the same number of points.
The performance of the players from Bihar in the tournament was also remarkable. Bihar’s young star Reyan Mohammad secured 6th position with 7 points out of 9 while Mohit Soni secured 21st position with 6.5 points. Bihar’s best girl player Maryam Fatima scored 5.5 points and added about 65 points to her account.
It may be mentioned here that Reyan Mohammed, finished sixth, received a cash prize of Rs 50000. He also added 117 more points to his rating account.
The office-bearers of All Bihar Chess Association and all the chess lovers congratulated Bihar players for their achievement.
