Patna: Bihar were in driver’s seat at the end of second day’s play of their four-day Ranji Trophy plate group match against hosts Meghalaya. At the end of the day’s play Bihar were leading by 170 runs with seven wickets in hands in their second innings at MCA Cricket Ground in Shillong on Wednesday.
Bihar batsmen struggled to get runs against the Meghalya bowlers in their second innings and were reeling at 73 for the loss of three wickets. It was virtually, a day of bowlers at MCA ground as the bowlers collected 16 wickets in the day. Bihar were shut out for 264 runs in their first innings on resuming the day at 247 for 7. Overnight not out batsman Sakibul Gani could not do much as he returned to pavilion adding just four runs to his overnight score of 52.
Meghalaya too had disastrous start in their first innings as the lost three wickets for just 19 runs on the board. Opening batsman RR Biswa and Dippu defied the Bihar attack well and they guided Meghalaya to 167 runs all out in the first innings. R R Biswa made 56 runs while Dippu top scored with 57 runs. With this, Bihar took crucial 97 runs first innings lead. For Bihar, Ashutosh Aman and Sachin Kuamr Singh took three wickets each. Abhijeet bagged two wickets. In Bihar second innings, Babul Kumar scored 31 runs.
