Raj Aryan, Srija annex singles titles of Bihar Junior U-19 Badminton

Patna: Raj Aryan of Nawada beat Saksham Vats of Patna in straight sets 21-17, 21-16 to win the boys singles title of the Li Ning Bihar State Junior Under-19 Boys and Girls Ranking Badminton Tournament at the Patliputra Sports Complex here on Monday.

In the girls’ singles final, Srija of Patna won a three sets thriller 21-17, 18-21, 21-13 against Sanvie Anand of Bhagalpur to capture the crown.

About 200 players from all the districts of the state participated in this tournament which lasted for four days.

In the boys’ doubles final, the pair of Amrit Raj and Raj Aryan (Muzaffarpur and Nawada) registered a 21-14, 21-14 victory over the pair of Kartik and Prag Singh (Patna and Munger) .

In the girls’ doubles final, the pair of Sanvie Anand and Srija defeated the pair of Fiza Hasan and Sara Kausar 11-21, 21-16, 21-18 to win the title in a hard-fought match.  In mixed doubles, the pair of Raj Aryan and Ranya Rana defeated Amrit Raj and Sara Kausar 21-13, 21-13.

Abdul Bari Siddiqui, former minister and vice-president of Badminton Association of India and president of Bihar Badminton Association, chief advisor to chief minister and former chief secretary (Govt of Bihar) Deepak Kumar and director general of Bihar State Sports Authority Raveendran Sankaran gave away the prizes.

 

KN Jaiswal, general secretary of Bihar Badminton Association welcomed the guests while organising secretary Kumar Sandeep proposed a vote of thanks.  A large number of sports lovers were present on this occasion.
