Katihar: Under the banner of Bihar Football Association, Purnia and Madhepura won the match played under Group B of Zone-4 of Moinul Haq Cup for 71st Bihar State Inter District Football Championship hosted by Katihar Football Association on Thursday.
Purnia defeated Kishanganj 9-0 while Madhepura defeated Katihar 1-0.
On Thursday, Madhepura defeated host Katihar 1-0 on the second day of Group B match of Zone 4 at Rajendra Stadium. Umesh Besra scored the only goal for him in the 47th minute of the game. Shiva Besra of the winning team was shown a yellow card by referee Mukesh Rai in the first half.
Kailash Pandit, Mohan Kumar and Vishal Kumar were the assistant referees in the match. This is the second match of Katihar. On the first day, its match with Araria ended in a goalless draw.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Purnea made a brilliant start by thrashing Kishanganj 9-0. The winning team led 6–0 in the first half. Dilip Hembram scored five goals for Purnea. Three other goals were scored by Innocent Hembram and one by Ashish Murmu (18th minute).
Dileep scored in the second, seventh, 21st, 49th and 53rd minutes of the match. While Innocent Hembram scored in the 33rd, 34th and 68th minutes. Vishal Kumar was the referee of the match and Roshan Kumar, Harendra Prasad Yadav and Mukesh Rai were the assistant referees.
