Patna: Purnia Eklavya defeated the Patna Eklavya hockey team 4-2 in the inaugural match of the Shaheed Ajay Kumar Singh Memorial Girls Hockey Tournament at the Pataliputra Sports Complex here on Thursday. The tournament is being oragnised under the joint aegis of Sports Development Authority of Bihar (SDAB) and RK Roy Foundation,
Fancy, Kajal and Bijli scored the goals for the winning team while Shanti and Rimjhim scored goals for Patna Eklavya.
In the second match, RK Roy Hockey Academy defeated Eklavya Patna ‘B’ by 4-1. Aarti, Sanjana and Anjali scored goals for the winning team while Swati scored the lone goal for Eklavya Patna ‘B’.
In the third match, Eklavya Patna defeated Vidya Niketan School by 15-0. Shanti, Siddhi, Khushi, Rishu, Ankita, Jhummi and Shanti scored goals for the winning team.
In the last match played today, Eklavya Purnea defeated RK Roy Hockey Academy by 7-0. Fancy, Bijli and Kajal scored the goals for the winning team.
Before the formal inauguration of this competition, two minutes silence was observed in the memory of Late Kiran Roy and Late Rabbi Roshan.
Director General of Sports Development Authority of Bihar Raveendran Sankaran inaugurated the tournament. He was also introduced to the players. Naresh Chauhan, Deputy Director of Sports Department, Sanjay Singh, RK Roy Hockey Academy President Anjani Kumar, Satish Raju of BJP Sports Cell and former players Anubha Singh, Bhim Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Deepak Sharma, Madhuri and Doli Kumari were present on the occasion. The players were welcomed by Arunima Roy while the vote of thanks proposed by Ankur Raj.
