Bihar on course to qualify for Ranji Trophy Plate Group final

Patna: Bihar are all set to qualify for the final of the Rajni Trophy plate group after putting themselves in a nearly unassailable position against hosts Meghalaya on the third day of their four-day match at  MCA Ground (Polo Ground) in Shillong on Thursday. Meghalaya still needed an imposing 436 runs to win the match with nine wickets in hand at the end of the third day’s play.

Bihar have given Meghalaya a target of 458 runs to win the match. Chasing this stiff target, Meghalaya scored 23 runs for one wicket. Bihar had scored 428 runs in the first innings and 164 runs in the second innings. Meghalaya has scored 134 runs in the first innings.

Bihar started the third day with 28 runs without any losses. Bihar got the first blow in the form of Basukinath. Basukinath got out after scoring 22 runs. After this, Bihar lost two wickets quickly. Babul Kumar teamed up with Sakibul Gani and they took the innings forward. They added 47 runs for the fourth wicket before Babul got out after scoring 51 runs. After this, Bihar’s wickets kept falling at regular intervals, and the entire team was all out for 164 in 66.3 overs, setting Meghalaya a target of 458 runs.
