Patna: Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Shasheem Rathore (four wickets) and a century by Piyush Kumar Singh (119 not out), PESU defeated Rising Star by three wickets and reached the semi-finals of the Super League of Patna District Senior Division Cricket League. From Pool A, YMCC and Pesu entered the semi-finals.
The last league match of Pool A was played at Urja Stadium on Monday under the Super League being organized under the aegis of Patna District Cricket Association Ad-hoc Committee. Rising Star won the toss and elected to bat first. After the initial setback, Aman Raj’s 42 and Animesh Kumar’s unbeaten 93 helped Rising Star score 209 for nine in 40 overs.
For PESU, Shasheem Rathore took 4 wickets while Rahul Rathore took 2 wickets for 42 runs.
In reply, Piyush Kumar Singh scored an unbeaten 119 as PESU scored 212 for three in 36.1 overs and booked a berth in the semi-final. Akash scored 37 not out, Shasheem Rathore made 21 and Rajesh Kumar Sinha scored 15 runs. Piyush Kumar Singh was given the player of the match award.
