Patna girls win state-level hockey tournament title

Patna: Patna defeated Buxar 4 -1 to win the Taxila 13th Hockey Bihar State-Level Girls Championship title at Government Girls High School, Mahasri Nagar Patna on Sunday.

Patna were ahead of 2- 0 in the first half. The first goal was scored by Siddhi Kumari in the 14th minute by a penalty corner. The second goal was scored by Rishu Kumari in the 18th minute off a pass from Sharda Kumari. In 39th minute, Aarti Kumari scored the third goal off a pass from Khushi Kumari and the fourth goal was scored in 54th minute by Anjali Kumari.

Chhama Kumari scored the lone goal through a penalty corner for Buxar in the 57th minute. Khushi Kumari was adjudged best player.

Awards:

1- Best goalkeeper:  Patna’s Anshu Kumari;  Best defender:  Nazia Khatoon of Siwan;  Best midfielder, Buxar’s Saneha Raj;  Best forward- Shanti Kumari of Patna; Emergent player:  Siddhi Kumari of Patna; Best player of the entire tournament: Rim Jhim Kumari.

Birla Cement’s Executive Board Member J N Trivdei gave away the awards. Achal Kumar welcomed all the guests and Sanjay Tiwari proposed a vote of thanks.
