Patna girls emerge overall champions

Patna: Patna won the overall title of the State Level (Inter District) School Girls Athletics Championship by scoring a total of 60 points, while West Champaran stood second with a total of 35 points.

Under the joint aegis of the Art, Culture and Youth Department and Bihar State Sports Authority, the championship was conducted by the District Administration, Patna at Patliputra Sports Complex. In the girls’ under-14 age group, West Champaran collected 23 points while Patna bagged 20 points in the U-17 age group. Patna earned 38 points in the girls’ under-19 age group.

The chief guest of the prize distribution function was the additional chief secretary of Art, Culture and Youth Department, Harjot Kaur Bamhra. In her address, she discussed in detail the importance of sports as well as various schemes for the players. She said that approval has been given to establish 50 non-residential training centers for various sports in the state and there is a plan to open one center in every Panchayat in the coming days.

Khagesh Chandra Jha, additional district magistrate, Patna welcomed the chief guest. The vote of thanks was proposed by district sports officer Shri Om Prakash.
