Patna district administration intensifies campaign to increase percentage of voting in urban areas

Patna: District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate Shirrat Kapil Ashok has ordered an intensive voter awareness campaign throughout the entire district to boost the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha General Election, 2024. In this series, a voter awareness meeting was organised today at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall under the chairmanship of District Magistrate, Patna to increase the voting percentage.

About 1500 public distribution system vendors and Anganwadi workers from urban areas of Patna participated. The District Magistrate addressed the meeting, stating that the Sweep Cell is conducting a large-scale knock-the-door campaign throughout the entire district. Through this, officials associated with the Sweep programme are visiting 100% of the houses and contacting 100% of the voters, giving them information about the booths and motivating them to vote.

The District Magistrate said that under the Knock the Door programme, the Anganwadi workers should go to all the houses in their constituency, tell them about their booth, and make them aware of voting. PDS dealers should make people aware of voting in their areas. The aim of the Sweep programme is that each voter should know about his booth and cast his vote in a fair manner without any fear or inducement. The District Magistrate appealed to the people of Patna to set a record for voting percentage in every area of Patna this time.

It should be noted that Bankipur, Kumhrar, Digha and Patna Sahib assembly constituencies come under the Patna Municipal Corporation. The number of families residing under this is approximately 3,47,135. In this way, 1621 polling centres are located at about 659 polling centre sites in six zones of the Patna Municipal Corporation.

In the meeting, Deputy Development Commissioner Patna Sadar, Sub-Divisional Officer Patna Sadar, Special Officer Sub Division, District Public Relations Officer, District Welfare Officer, DPO ICDS, Assistant Director Divyangjan Empowerment, Sweep Icon Neetu Navgeet, and others also threw light on the voter awareness campaign.

The meeting focused on increasing the voting percentage in urban areas compared to previous elections. The District Magistrate said that the PMC officials are intensively running the Knock-the-Door campaign. The base of PDS and ICDS is very high. Women have an active role in ICDS. Therefore, your role in raising voter awareness is important.

The District Magistrate said that voters should be told the importance of their vote and motivated to vote.

Many public distribution system vendors and Anganwadi workers who came to this meeting also presented their views on the importance of voting in democracy and inspired the people present to actively participate in voter awareness.
