Patna: In the first semi-final of the Rekha Rai Memorial Patna District Junior Division Football League, held at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium, Patna Academy secured a commanding 4-0 victory against Urja Turf FA to book their place in the final.
The match was one-sided, particularly in the first half, where Patna Academy dominated. Virat Kumar opened the scoring in the 9th minute, followed by Rajiv Kumar in the 11th and Deepak Kumar in the 19th, establishing a 3-0 lead by half-time.
Urja Turf FA showed some defensive resolve in the second half, but not before Umesh Vashki added a fourth goal early in the half, extending Patna Academy’s lead to 4-0. Despite their late efforts to strengthen their defence and forward play, Urja Turf FA could not bridge the gap.
Patna Academy’s Pankaj Kumar received a yellow card in the 48th minute, the only blemish on an otherwise flawless team performance. Deepak Kumar was awarded the Player of the Match by senior footballer Abhitabh Rai for his outstanding contribution.
The match was officiated by referees Shubham Kumar Sharma, Harendra Yadav, Sunil Kumar, and Amarjeet Kumar.
The second semi-final, scheduled for 29 January, will feature Study and Sports FC taking on Sporting FC.
